"The firm exerts efforts in conducting activities that will benefit our professional and personal development, and our welfare."

Jayson Perez - Audit Assistant Manager

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to pursue a career in fine arts when I was younger, however, it is difficult to be on the top in the industry. I thought that the commerciality of my work would be dependent on the market's demand and taste, rather on my personal aesthetic.

What made you choose your current profession?

I realised that a career in accountancy is practical, interesting, challenging and something I'd like doing as job. Moreover, there are countless opportunities in this industry; every company needs an accountant and accounting standards are pretty much consistent around the world.

Why did you choose to work for Grant Thornton?

Among the reputable firms I applied for in the Channel Islands, Grant Thornton stood out for me because I had a sense of belongingness during my initial encounters with the people in the firm, which left a great impression.

How has Grant Thornton helped you grow professionally?

I am an Audit Senior in the Jersey office responsible for planning, implementing and completing audit engagements. Despite having concurrent engagements, the working environment in the office allows me to be independent and flexible with how I manage my job. Moreover, this position provides me with an overview of each entity and a detailed understanding of how it conducts its business, which I find very interesting. At Grant Thornton, we are exposed to different types of entities which broadens our knowledge on various industries.

Why do you like working at Grant Thornton?

I like working at Grant Thornton because it provides me with a platform to improve myself and maximise my skillset in my chosen career. More importantly, Grant Thornton takes care of, and invests in, its people – the firm exerts efforts in conducting activities that will benefit our professional and personal development, and our welfare.
